FAQ
Straight answers.
Including how Confortotal 115V systems power from an indoor wall plug, with no outdoor 230V run. More detail in the 115V blog post.
Will this heat in January?
Yes for a typical Spring Hill winter if it is a heat pump, sized, and charged. Value-tier heads are not hyper-heat. Below about 25–30°F outdoor, expect less heating capacity.
Do I need a permit?
Spring Hill, Williamson, Columbia, and Franklin generally need a mechanical permit for new ductless. Maury County does not require a permit for this work. Where a permit is needed, we pull it on install tickets.
Do I need ducts?
No. Copper line set and a drain replace the trunk.
Can I buy just the unit?
Yes. Wholesale / pickup at 1292 Center Star Rd is a core ticket. Factory warranties on Confortotal almost always want a professional installer afterward. EPA 608 applies to anyone who opens the refrigerant circuit.
Can I hang it myself?
You can buy equipment-only. DIY install often voids the compressor term and still needs EPA 608 for refrigerant. Most homeowners are better on the sold+installed ticket.
Do Confortotal 115V units need outdoor 230V power?
No — on Confortotal 110/115V single-zone kits (including the popular 12k class), the system is fed from an indoor grounded wall plug/receptacle. Line voltage goes to the outdoor unit through the interconnect; the outdoor condenser does not need its own separate 230V circuit run. The Confortotal 12k 115V listing shows about 9.1A cooling / 9.2A heating and roughly 1040W. Plan a dedicated grounded 15A 115V circuit for that indoor receptacle (or follow the crate nameplate MCA/MOCP — nameplate wins). Do not share a bedroom lamp outlet or other multi-appliance receptacle.
What size breaker for a 12k 115V Confortotal?
For the published ~9.1A / ~9.2A draw, a dedicated grounded 15A 115V circuit is the usual target. Always verify MCA and MOCP on the nameplate of the exact unit Marty sells before you pull wire.
What does install cost?
Standard single-zone hang labor is $1,000. Equipment is the pickup price on the price sheet. 220V electrical is not included (new circuit, disconnect, outdoor whip, panel work). 115V wall-plug units that already have a dedicated indoor outlet usually need no outdoor 220V run. Long line sets, pumps, and hard-access jobs are adders — call 931-982-8253.
What are current pickup prices?
Published single-zone pickup: 9k 110V Wi-Fi $400, 12k $500, 18k $750, 24k $950, 36k $1,200. Standard single-zone install labor is $1,000 (220V electrical not included). Multi-zone = call 931-982-8253.
